Another first for Kerikeri Cruising Club
From regular racing on smooth lakes to choppy seas and variable winds -
"different" as Tom Block stated "this is much more real, testing
our skills on an ever-changing ocean".
Nineteen skippers on Day One experienced Cat racing in the Bay of
Islands; three competitors from as far south as Wanaka and Christchurch, nine
from Auckland, an entry from Dargaville and the six local boats from
Kerikeri. The current NZ National Champ
23rd to 25 th of April at the easter weekend the classic European season opener for the A class is planned.

A-class sailing is beginning to get quite popular in Holland. It’s probably too early to state that the introduction of the DNA is causing a hype but fact is that it gives the class a certain buzz. In Hellevoetsluis there were 48 boats from 6 countries at the start.
Conditions were very windy, up to 24 knots on the last day, and flat water behind the dike which separates the lake Haringvliet from the North Sea.
The Spanish Nationals where held in La Manga del Mar Menor from the 9 to the 12 of September 2010.
9 races were sailed with winds from 6 to 12 knots and 28 A class fleet were present.
Friday 3 races was sailed with winds from 6 to 10 knots. Very shifty and tricky conditions.
Gustavo Doreste was the best sailor in these conditions with an 2-1-1. Micky Hammer was second and Manuel Calavia 3º.
Saturday 3 races was sailed with winds from 10 to 12 knots. Manuel Calavia carried out a 1-2-1 and Gustavo Doreste a 4-3-9.
The DNA, the new Dutch A-classby Advanced Racing Catamarans with curved boards has made his debut at Easter during the Vele di Pasqua.
