Open Dutch Championships A class 2006

Great 2 days sailing on Haringvliet , Hosted by cat club Hellecat .

Saturday 4 races 4-6 knots wind.
In a good fleet of 30 boats  the race committee managed to start 4  +/- 1 hour long races .
In these light circumstances  the Haringvliet is well known for enough shifts to keep the racing exiting till the last downwind.
Piet Saarberg  was doing great on the new Tool scoring a 1,2,3,1 .
Obviously the Tool seems to go well on the flat water. Interesting to see  the boat is particularly good in `going flat' downwind .
Pieterjan Dwarshuis on the Flyer mk 1 was doing good also in  his not-favoured-light-stuff  scoring 2,1,1,11 . Chris Field from the UK  
( we were delighted to see 4 boats from UK and one from IRL) managed to claim third position after the day , shared more or less with
Guido Schulte (GER) and Arno Terra  (NED)


Sunday weather  was  changed an 3 great races were sailed by 15-20 knots of breeze.  Different stuff indeed!
Great speeds flying downwind on the flat water in bright sunshine .
The first race saw allready some spectacular capsizes and collisions . Pieterjan Dwarshuis  scored 1,1,2  taking the championship .
Good performances were shown by Huub Lambriex ,Roeland Wentholt  and Chris Field .
Also  Hans Klok after some years of absence showed he still could race when it is blowing `stront van de dijk' as he mentioned.
Piet Saarberg who squeezed out an RdG ( collision with Ken), 9,8 , secured 2nd overall,
Chris Field ( GBR ) was going very strong taking a bullet in the last race and set for 3rd overall .
