Still smarting from their recent Cricket draw with England, the Aussie sailors prepare for their Nationals. John Dowling reports.
The Australian nationals start today at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron with a severely depleted fleet due to Covid. Only 28 boats equally split between Open and Classic will be on the start line in Moreton Bay at Brisbane. Several practice races were held yesterday in perfect 12-15 knots and small chop.
A Happy New Year from the organisers of the 2022 Houston Worlds!
We thought this would be a great time to make another announcement about the upcoming event.
New Year message from President Charles. 2021 ‘A’ Cat Year Review, a new female National Champion and Jacek Noetzel gets a new red tractor.
Dear ‘A’ Cat Sailors!
2021 has certainly be a transition year for the class. Some sailors in some countries were able to attend a few events, some have been locked down for very long times. Those who were almost free to travel wanted to sail and sometimes didn't understand the situation of the locked-ins. We have all done our best to live our passion to the fullest, and despite the sanitary issues it was certainly a better year than 2020, even if far from perfect.
2022 European Championships NOR
The NOR for the 2022 Euros has been published. Please read carefully.

The list showing initial National allocations will be published at the end of January, after IACA have to received and processed the final IACA membership payments due the end of 2021.

'A' Class Observations by an informed outsider
The article below was written, unsolicited, by Dr Ian Ward, the man who started with Foiling Moth long ago. Its purpose is to stimulate the future development of the A-Class Catamarans. The IACA Committee will not initiate any change of the class rules based on this document. If one or more National Association(s) would like to do so, then please follow the IACA Constitution and Class Rules. We can of course assist with the process. - The IACA Committee.

Shipping boats to the Houston Worlds
Our 2022 Worlds Logistics Coordinator, Richard Stevens, richardstevens@hecny.com has developed a guide for those considering shipping a container to the US. After shipping boats to several regattas, I can attest how important it is to follow the paperwork guidelines. For those of you that ship boats frequently most of these recommendations are well known. There are a few simple items that can help smooth the process. Try not to use wood for the bracing. Sweep the container clean and clean all the boats and equipment.
